Lot 286
1991 Kawasaki GT550 'Bobber'
Registration no. J210 AUB
Chassis no.
Derived from the Z500, Kawasaki's first offering in the '550' category was the GPz550 of 1981, which in typical Kawasaki fashion immediately set new performance standards for the class. In 1983, a touring version equipped with shaft drive the Z550GT was added to the line-up and this immensely successful model would enjoy one of the longest production runs of any Kawasaki motorcycle, lasting into 2002. Rubber mounted in the Z550GT frame, the 553cc air-cooled motor produced a maximum of 56bhp, which was good enough for a top speed of 118mph.
Converted into a 'Bobber'-style special, complete with solo seat and chunky tyres, this extensively modified GT550 was acquired by the vendor in January 2025, since when it has been dry stored in the garage when not in use. Unfortunately, the vendor does not get on with the bike, hence the reason for sale.
It should be noted that the HPI records a Category D Insurance Loss against the VRN (description Kawasaki GT550) dated 2nd September 1999, and records the previous colour as red. Prospective purchasers must satisfy themselves with regard to this motorcycle's VCAR status, originality, authenticity, completeness and condition prior to bidding. Accompanying documentation includes a current V5C and MoT to 17th January 2026.
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams website for all pertinent auction information.
