Description
1994 Land Rover Defender 200tdi 90 in Shire Blue with Ivory White roof.
The car has been subject to a total mechanical restoration over the last 3 years, MOT passed last week with no advisories.
The reason for sale is I'm losing a garage in SW London and this is the car I use the least so unfortunately my 200tdi has to go, in my ownership I've only done ~600 miles.
Over the last 3years it's had just about everything rebuilt, replaced, refitted, upgraded and modified on it other than the bodywork, and only covered ~2. 5k miles. I can share a more detailed list of parts, but the headlines are:
• Galvanised Marsland Chassis
• New Bulkhead
• Completely rebuilt Drivetrain with 'top-shelf brands'; Clutch, Brakes, Suspension Arms, Joints, Springs and Dampers with a 1" lift. (Ashcroft Transmission, LoF Clutches, Pioneer 4x4, Gwyn Lewis 4x4, Timken etc. used)
• TruTrak GPS tracker hardwired
• Kahn and Wipac LED Lights conversion
• Equipe 4x4 bumper and rear corner supports
• CTK Premium sound deadening front to back, marine carpet top to bottom, with Exmoor Trim carpet and seats in the cabin.
• Erberspacher D4 Auxiliary Diesel Heater in cabin, fed from main fuel tank, they are usually used in Ambulances, so it heats the cabin very effectively!
• All Aluminium, uprated Radiator and Intercooler.
• Engine's had the Head, sump, oil filter housing gaskets, water and oil pumps and timing belt all done in the last year.
• Nearly new BFG Mud-Terrains, were fitted with chassis replacement (2500 miles ago)
The final piece of the puzzle to complete this car would be the bodywork. An upside of it's patina I've found though is that I've never worried about leaving it on the street in London or about taking it off-road. My original intention was to convert to a canvas top and restore the paintwork but leaving as is was more practical in London, although as mentioned the car has always been garaged in my ownership. To summarise it's a very honest, old, unassuming Land Rover to look at but a quick tally of the invoices shows it has been subject to ~£20k worth of restoration resulting in it being a very dependable and OEM+ Defender. While it has covered 155k miles, in reality the only part of the car that has travelled those miles is the Odometer...
It's extremely capable off-road and happy enough sitting at 70mph on the motorway, I drove it to Bournemouth in a day back in January and even managed 33mpg!
Factory 200tdi Defenders are getting rarer now and have the benefit over the new ones of being truly mechanical. There's very little wiring in them and nothing more complicated than a fuse.
I'm open to sensible offers but please bear in mind I'm already listing for sale for far less than has been spent on it.
I hope the next owner enjoys it much as I have!
