Description
I’m selling this magnificent Vespa 400 from 1959.
A tiny cabriolet built by Piaggio at the French ACMA factories only. (Never built or sold in Italy due to FIAT lobbying at launch). Also known as ACMA 400.
A rare vehicle, among the smallest cars in Europe.
Weight 360 kg, height 1. 25 m, length 2. 85 m, width 1. 27 m.
Petrol vehicle, rear-wheel drive, engine 393 cc, 2-stroke inline twin, 3-speed manual, top speed around 90–100 km/ h (they’re hard to reach…). Manual oil mixer. Spare wheel and jack. Technical documentation present.
It attracts attention and sympathy, but has the big advantage of being exempt from the mandatory technical inspection (as it is registered as a collection vehicle and pre-1960). It therefore does not require a Crit’Air sticker in city centres.
It is in very good cosmetic and mechanical condition, a true running museum piece.
1st owner: 1959–1985
2nd owner: 1985–2020
3rd-4th owner: 2020–2022
5th owner: Me since 2022
New brakes in 2018
Engine replaced in 2015 (+ Weber carburettor) with an engine in excellent condition, mileage therefore indicative
Micro car, convertible—cuter than the Fiat 500 and cheaper than the Autobianchi Bianchina Cabriolet Eden Roc.
