Description
The car's engine is a Rover 4. 8 V8 engine converted to 4748cc c/ w 96mm top hat liners by V8D in 2023. It already had big valve sports heads from JE Engineering & now has a V8D Stealth Cam and CR of 9. 95:1. A recent full tune & Dyno including a new 123 electronic distributor installation to ensure reliability and performannce Now approx 310bhp.
New bespoke stainless steel exhaust with crossover pipe.
Running gear: Front suspension MGB uprights with Hawk tubular wishbones. Shockers converted to take coil overs. Large Vented brake discs with Willwood Callipers.
Rear suspension now Independent with disc brakes but with MG splined hubs to accept centre lock Hallibrand wheels.
Body is fibreglass
Tonneau, soft top, sidecreens, Spare wheel, Driver & Passenger intercom
All Water and petrol hoses have also been replaced in the last 2-3 years
Built in 1998/ 99 by the deceased owner using a 1967 donor car ( historic registration hence no TAX or MOT needed)
SVA'd and reregistered as a Hawk Cobra in September 1999
Has been off road since August 2023 due to death of owner/ builder during engine conversion but now back on road with current MOT.
Log book shows 2 owners but only as result of bereavement.
History of build & work done on the car and parts invoices are available. This is a replica of the FIA model created for Carroll Shelby for racing in Europe in the FIA Touring car category complete with the boot lid bumps to accomodate the FIA regulationsize suitcase. Whilst the original cars had cast iron Ford 4. 7 engines this car has an aluminiun rover engine (75kg lighter) which makes for better road holding.
Hawk cars are known for being visually correct and this includes the twin tube chassis and on this car white fibreglass footwells.
