About of this car
We highly rate these nimble roadsters which are so simple and brilliant to drive. Our car was manufactured in 1997 and imported into the UK in 2009; it is of course LHD as they all are. Finished in the brochure car 570 orange colour, the best hue for this model we think – our example is well optioned with leather seats and steering wheel, Fiat alloy wheels, drilled discs, stainless sports exhaust and Avon tyres.
This is a well known example being the FaceBook group hero car and having been featured by Top Gear magazine pitted against the then new 124 Spider (in which it fared brilliantly); our car has covered 85k miles (140k klms recorded) and looks to have been enthusiast owned. Rare for one of these cars, it is without rust or rust repair.
Bodywork
The body of this car has excellent panel fitment and zero rust issue. The original orange paint is older and has some age related marks and micro blistering but as you can see it polishes up really well.
The chassis is in remarkable rust free condition. The car has been cavity rust protected. All glass including the headlights are perfect.
The hood, possibly the original – has a clear rear screen and one tiny tear to one side.
Mechanicals
Our car drives just as a Barchetta should, i. e a lot of fun. A pre-sale service has just been performed using genuine Fiat parts, including:
New cam belt and bearing
New auxiliary belt
2x new Avon tyres
New battery with warranty
Engine oil and filter changed
New spark plugs
New air filter
New Lambda sensor
Under bonnet presentation is spot-on with no leaks and everything as it should be.
Our car has an advisory free MOT until May 2026.
Interior
This shows careful ownership. The seating and door cards are original and are all in very good condition, and tailored after market carpets are fitted.
Boot
Excellent with unused space saver spare, jack and toolkit.
Summary
The phrase colour making a car has never been truer than on this model. Sensational looking in orange and being a desirable first series example make for a sure fire future classic potential, and what a way to enjoy the current heat wave. Sold with original book pack and sales brochure.
