BEING a lifelong fan of the "Audax" cars ie: Rootes Group's Hillman Minx, Sunbeam Rapier and Singer Gazelle, it is hardly surprising that I have enjoyed using this beauty for the past few days. I have done around 40 miles in her, driving her in all different ways and she is a joy. A pretty Series IIIA (the first Minx to display those delightful rear fins) which is a real eye catcher of a 60s classic. Perky on the road with a pleasing floor shift, she is a highly usable old girl.
A couple of decades ago, a Minx could still be snapped up easily enough along with such old favorites as the Morris Oxford, Austin Cambridge and Vauxhall Viva to name but a few. Not so now. These models, once the staple diet of the British family motorist, are becoming more difficult to find by the month.
