Our clients project started in 2018 and completed in 2022. Each module being built over our proprietary fully galvanised custom space frame and monocoque chassis.
The build included a 3. 5L Rover V8, built by JRV8 in Northern Ireland who also upgraded the engine with high performance camshaft, oversize compression pistons, Edelbrock 500cfm carburettor, Edelbrock Performer inlet manifold and Edelbrock 14” Chrome Air Filter. This was then mated to a LT77 Gearbox. This engine was chosen for its aluminium construction and based on the Buick 215 V8. A lightweight car with a V8 will go quickly, but even quicker if the engine is lighter! The client has not installed the inner front wings as further airflow around the engine aids cool
Front double wishbone and rear independent lower, semi trailing arm suspension with coil over shocks all round ensure this Cobra corners like a pro and stopping duties are under control with servo assisted dual circuit disc brakes all round.
To further enhance this amazing build, a removable Soft Top Kit and Car Cover is available along with the inner front wings which can all be installed at extra cost.
With fresh examples becoming increasingly rare on the used market due to the decline of availability of donor car parts, this is an amazing opportunity to purchase a sought-after replica of the beloved AC Cobra that may as well be regarded as “Brand New”! We indeed supplied fully running Pilgrim built Sumo Cobras to clients as well as just the kits and although some would be more wary of a home build kit car, we can vouch for the quality of this build as the client got us to inspect each module upon completion to ensure that it is as we would have done it. We also carried out the final IVA testing here at Pilgrim V8.
So to have this amazing “client built” Pilgrim Sumo Cobra in with only 524miles for us to re-home is a real treat! Its great to have one of “our own” cars in our showroom again!
With no roof, the wind in your hair and the rumble and roar of a V8 in your ears, thrills are guaranteed! Letting the opportunity of experiencing a brand new Cobra pass, would be a travesty!
