THE KOENIGSEGG REGERA
Unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and produced between 2016 and 2022, the Koenigsegg Regera (Swedish for 'Koenigsegg Reigns') is a landmark in automotive engineering, blending staggering performance with unprecedented luxury. The brainchild of Christian von Koenigsegg and developed entirely in-house at the company's Ängelholm facility in Sweden, the Regera was conceived as a hybrid hypercar with grand touring comfort a one-car solution for collectors seeking both track-level potency and refinement for long-distance driving.
The 2021 Regera was offered in a strictly limited production run of just 80 units, all of which were pre-sold and every Regera was hand-built to bespoke specifications, ensuring each is unique.
The Regera is powered by a 5. 0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with a redline at 8, 250 rpm, paired with three electric motors (two at the rear wheels and one on the crankshaft), producing a combined output of 1, 500 hp and 2, 000 Nm of torque at 4, 100 rpm. The car features the Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD) system a patented, single-speed gear solution that couples the engine and the electric motors to the rear axle, replacing the traditional multi-speed transmission, reducing weight and drivetrain drag, with rocket-launch acceleration. As a result, the car is capable of accelerating from 0100 km/ h in 2. 8 seconds, from 0300 km/ h in under 10 seconds and 0-400 km/ h in just over 20 seconds a world-record number. Yet, despite this savage performance, the Regera also offers electric-only propulsion for silent low-speed urban use.
The carbon fiber monocoque chassis and body are wrapped in sculpted carbon panels, with active aerodynamics including an automatically deploying rear wing and hydraulically adjustable ride height and damping, inducing a total down force of 450 kg at 250 km/ h. This two-door two-seater has a removable structural hardtop stowable under the front hood and lightweight anti-roll bars front and rear. For driving in changeable conditions or commuting to the track, the car offers the proprietary Koenigsegg Electronic Stability Control System with four setting for Comfort, Wet/ Snow, Sport and Track, underlining the vehicle's versatility. Another of the Regera's crowning glories is its bespoke titanium exhaust system, developed with Akrapovic.
The cockpit is finished to an extraordinary standard, boasting contrasting black and white stitched leather on the highly stylized memory foam seats and facias, ambient lighting and an intuitive infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Wi-Fi connectivity. Koenigsegg's "Autoskin" system allows for remote-activated doors and hood and the bird's eye view parking assist with all round sensors makes parking a dream.
THE CAR OFFERED
This silver tinted 2021 example features the optional clear carbon finish a dazzling showcase of Koenigsegg's proprietary naked carbon construction, requiring many hours to perfect. Red accent stripes score the beltline with red-lipped air intakes on the nose and matching red calipers. This Regera is a heavily optioned example with over $800, 000 in extras including $400, 000 for exterior exposed carbon trim, $250, 000 for the environmental power upgrade, $57, 000 for Tresex AirCore carbon fiber wheels. Additionally included is the unique Autoskin feature allowing the owner to open the doors, hood, and engine compartment with a touch of the buttons on the car's key/ remote.
Sold new through Koenigsegg Charlotte in June of 2021, this example has been minimally used in the past four years with about 70 miles showing since new. Cosmetically as one would expect with from a car with so few miles, it should be noted the pink accents on the exterior are vinyl decals that can easily be removed should the next owner wish to do so. As with any super-computer-on-wheels with so few miles, a service is recommended prior to exploring the face-melting performance capabilities of this Swedish hybrid rocket.
The Regera is not merely a track-day monster it is a hyper-GT for the connoisseur, offering a uniquely serene driving experience, even at tremendous speed.
