Description

Indian Royal Enfield Apache 700 uit 1956.
After the collapse of the original Indian Motorcycle Company in 1953, the British company Brockhouse Engineering acquired the rights to the name.
They distributed Royal Enfield motorcycles under the Indian brand through the American dealer network.
These models bore names like Apache, Trailblazer, and Tomahawk, and were essentially British-designed motorcycles disguised as "American-style" bikes.
The Indian Apache, produced from approximately 1956 to 1959, was the top-of-the-line sporting model:
Based on the Royal Enfield Constellation line, it was equipped with a 692 cc (vertical twin) engine.
Familiar features: slim aluminum fenders, a quick-detach headlight, a sporty speedometer with a 150 mph display, and a tachometer with a tachometer that went up to 8, 000 rpm.
Configuration: 9:1 supercharger and Amal TT carburetor; The engine produced approximately 45 hp at 6, 250 rpm. Technically easy maintenance: the valves were accessible via separate valve covers without removing the tank.
A total of approximately 7, 000 units of these Enfield-based Indians were sold over a period of approximately seven years.
The Apache marked a unique transatlantic brand: British-designed motorcycles with an American name and feel.
The trend ended when Royal Enfield decided to re-introduce motorcycles under its own name from 1960 onwards; Indian dealers switched to Matchless and other British brands.
This Apache is in good condition and has American registration.
