A rare chance to acquire an exceptionally clean and well preserved 1971 Wolseley 1300 Automatic. This car presents in outstanding condition throughout and has clearly led a cherished life. Showing 39, 788 miles, which I believe to be correct, though not supported by documentation, it is probably one of the cleanest Wolseley 1300s youll find on the market today, only let down by the gearbox fault described below.
The car starts with ease, the engine is quiet, and it revs cleanly with no untoward noises or smoke. Prior to developing the gearbox fault, it ran superbly, with no noises from the suspension or wheel bearings etc.
When reverse gear is selected, the car operates exactly as it should. When any forward gear is selected, the gearbox can be felt engaging, but there is no forward movement. I believe this automatic gearbox issue is well within the capabilities of specialist firms on the UK mainland; however, suitable expertise has been impossible to source in Northern Ireland.
For those who prefer an alternative route, the car would also be a suitable candidate for a manual gearbox conversion.
For the right enthusiast or garage, this represents a fairly straightforward project that will result in a superb example once completed.
Apart from a few minor blemishes, exactly as you would expect on a 54 year old car, the bodywork is mint. It needs no welding anywhere, and likewise shows no evidence of previous welding that I can see. The panels, sills, arches, and underside present remarkably cleanly, making this a very honest and unusually solid example.
The car is currently in Northern Ireland, she comes with a standard UK V5, so it can be driven anywhere in the UK with no need for reregistration or import duties. It is also suitable for low cost export to ROI due to its long term registration in N. I.
HPI CHECK. The car has been checked and there is no known outstanding finance, mileage discrepancies, or insurance records of damage or theft.
