The manufacturing process was based on using the original MG TD jigs, dies and moulds to ensure some historic accuracy. The TD2000 utilises disc brakes all-round and independent double wishbone suspension on the front to ensure a first-class driving experience with improved handling and stopping power to the original TD series cars. The brand built up a following and a reputation supplying into Japan, Australia, New Zealand, India, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, England and the Middle East.
A 2L, 4-cylinder Toyota 3S-FE engine powers the TD2000 producing 130bhp which, on a vehicle weighing less than 1, 000kg, boasts impressive performance. The power is delivered through a 5-speed manual transmission offering smooth gear changes and involved driving experience. 2517 MG starts first time without the requirement of any choke system and drives superbly, pulling up straight, and getting to the national speed limit promptly.
