L'atelier des 1000 offers for sale this rare MVS Venturi 200 Cup221 sports coupé, presented here in an elegant English green colour with matching leather interior. At the end of the 1980s, the Manufacture de Voitures de Sport gave birth to one of the first truly modern French GT cars, the "MVS Venturi".
This first version, under its technical name 'Cup221', produced in just 194 examples between 1987 and 1990, embodied the brand's confidential yet ambitious beginnings.
Hand-assembled by craftsmen, the car's seductive lines were low and slender, with meticulous aerodynamics and an architecture featuring a central rear engine that put the driver at the heart of the experience.
Rare, elegant and technically accomplished for its time, the MVS Cup 221 symbolises France's determination to rival the Italian and German benchmarks in the field of GT cars with character. This car was sold new on 24/ 03/ 1989 in Belgium. It has benefited from rigorous mechanical care, as evidenced by its service book stamped up to 85, 000 km, and has undergone a major overhaul to ensure that it is now sound, reliable and ready to take to the road in the best possible conditions. The venturi is a rarity, but the exceptional configuration of our example further enhances the exclusive character of the model.
Mechanically, the car is in fine fettle. Its V6 PRV turbocharged engine delivers a clean, progressive thrust. The ignition system has been overhauled, with the ignition head and finger replaced, as well as the spark plugs, to ensure optimum performance and smooth starts. An oil change was carried out, as well as the replacement of all the filters. The fuel and cooling system was overhauled, with the replacement of the water and fuel hoses, as well as the accessory belts.
The supercharging and injection system has been overhauled, with the dump valve, injection relay, 6 injectors and thermocontact replaced, ensuring smooth, high-performance engine operation. The gearbox works perfectly, with precise shifts that contribute fully to the model's sporty driving pleasure. The clutch performs its role perfectly without showing any signs of wear. The steering is firm and communicative, and the road handling is precise and balanced. The paintwork is bright and presents well, although we did note a few of the usual minors on fibre bodies. The underpinnings present very well and are sound.
The bodywork alignments are up to standard. The cabin, typical of Venturi productions, offers a unique ambience. The matching connolly leather upholstery is in very good condition, and the woodwork has a slight patina that we particularly like. The instrumentation and all the electrical equipment work correctly.
