Description
First registered on 23/ 07/ 1975, KCL 200N was originally finished in Java Green and fitted with overdrive, however was later resprayed to red. The car has previously had slight improvements, including an interior retrim covering the seats and carpets, and new shock absorbers. More recently, the car has benefitted from, new front brake calibers, a new radio and speaker system, air filters and new tyres.
During the previous ownership of around 20 years, the car had been serviced and MOT’d every year, however scarcely driven and remained garaged. The history file contains the invoices and certificates dated back to the lat ’90s, however unfortunately doesn’t consist of much prior to the last ownership, and the mileage cannot be verified. The car is accompanied by its spare wheel, original toolkit, and a tonneau cover.
The Spitfire here is offered as a usable, running classic, with an opportunity to take it to a higher level with plenty of room for improvement. The car would certainly benefit from a respray as unfortunately some of the paint has slightly faded and the doors are a slightly different shade. The bodywork remains consistent with the occasional blemish from use over the years, and the underside doesn’t show any signs of worrisome rusting or rotting. The interior is fairly tidy, excluding the original dash which may also benefit from a recommissioning. The original hood is also still fitted, however is beginning to also show its age, despite remaining perfectly usable. The 1500cc engine runs as it should without fault, and the car still offers that wonderful classic sports car experience.
This car would make a great project without extensive work required, or can be enjoyed as a cheap entry into classic British sports cars.
