The Morris Minor Traveller is one of Britain's most recognisable and enduring classic cars, combining practical estate car versatility with timeless post-war styling. Registered in June 1971, this delightful Morris Minor Traveller is fitted with the desirable manual gearbox and benefits from having had just four previous keepers throughout its life. The most recent owner acquired the car in October 2017 and, together with a close friend, embarked upon a comprehensive restoration and rebuilding programme that has transformed the vehicle into the impressive example offered today.
Over the course of the last eight years, extensive work has been undertaken to ensure the Traveller presents every bit as well underneath as it does externally and within the cabin. The engine has been professionally reconditioned, the gearbox recommissioned, and the braking system renewed. A new fuel tank has also been fitted as part of the restoration.
The bodywork received a full respray in June 2017, changing the car from its original blue finish to the rich burgundy red it proudly wears today. During the restoration, the roof was removed and all of the timber framing was replaced, resulting in an exceptionally attractive and structurally sound example that showcases the iconic Traveller design to excellent effect.
Whilst much of the restoration work was carried out personally by the previous owner and his friend, meaning supporting invoices are limited, the quality of the workmanship is immediately evident upon inspection. The attention to detail and standard of finish throughout the vehicle speak volumes about the care and dedication invested in the project.
Accompanying the car is V5 history tracing ownership back to the second keeper, providing an interesting insight into the vehicle's past and adding to its provenance.
