THE HILLMAN Minx "Audax" model was rare enough in convertible form back in the day. To come cross one now is indeed pretty damned rare. This barn find is probably not as ragged as it looks. Seems fairly sound underneath and the different shades of colour on it is due to the top coat of green peeling off and primer being revealed. It is very much a metal car and not bodged up. Was running last month and now the starter motor/ solenoid has jammed. Hood is relatively new. I am told by the last owner that it was purchased by him in 2018 and since then has been given engine work including bearings and rings etc. I was just about to rip out that hideous looking carpet when I realised that it is custom made to fit and has proper edging to it. Odd??
It has sound floors too. So it is incredibly rare and a great opportunity for someone to take on as a project and restore the old girl to her former glory.
Front seats have fitted covers (odd again??) but the seat itself is comfortable andnot sagging. I have not ripped them off to investigate.
