1979 MGB GT
Dating from February 1979 this charming little MGB GT comes from local enthusiast ownership and is being sold on behalf of the owner, a retired motor engineer who has enjoyed tinkering and improving the car during his tenure to include fitment of 5 new tyres, overhauling the brakes, fitment of a new mater cylinder, new brake pads and hoses, a hi-torque starter motor, new fuel pressure regulator, new radiator and electric fan, new coolant hoses, distributor, plugs, coil, air and oil filters along with a new 12V Yuasa batter and much more besides.
The vehicle looks to have been previously restored and repainted in the lovely Mitsubishi Jupiter Green we see here in 2022 with further works through 2023 to include new door cards and headlining, new windscreen along with front and rear screen rubbers, fitment of electronic ignition (a must have!), new door and side window rubbers, new rocker shaft assembly, rebuilt carbs and a new speedo which shows just over 2, 000 miles - the mileage covered since these extensive works over the past few years.
The history file includes the V5C, numerous old log books, Heritage Certificate (showing the car was originally supplied via Lookers Ltd of Bradford in Leyland white with orange deckchair interior, Rostyle wheels and Overdrive gearbox), 11 old MOTs dating from between 1999 - 2017, lubrication and wiring diagrams and a host of bills for parts and the works undertaken both recent and more historic (including a previous restoration c. 1994 detailing replacement wings, bonnet, door skins and sills etc).
Demonstrating strong oil pressure the car starts and runs well, driving as it should with working Overdrive in 3rd and 4th proving a joy to be in with added bonus of a glass sunroof and working radio.
A tidy example of the now harder to find rubber bumper BGT (so many have been converted to chrome bumpers) in a smart colour with original Rostyle wheels.
