Beschreibung
This was a genuine BMC Gold seal exchange engine fitted to a sherpa van in the late 80's, The van only lasted a few months after the engine was fitted.
I've had this engine in storage since 1990 and had hoped to fit it to an MGB, plans have changed so it has to go. As far as i am aware a gold seal engine with the AA suffix on the engine number indicates it was a brand new engine but sold on an exchange, ( im sure some wise guy or expert will point out this is not the case !!!)
As the engine had been stored for years i decided to strip and check it, the bores are standard size with no wear, the mains and big ends are also standard, confirming my theory about the AA suffix?
I decided to overhaul the engine by fitting rings, bearings, seals, valve stem seals and all gaskets, valves seats are in perfect condition, the valve were lapped in. new oil and filter, starter included.
I am a time served HGV engineer so be assured this job was done to a high standard.
I have tested and adjusted the injectors, they have poor spray pattern and will need replaced or reconditioned.
The engine stars instantly and has good oil pressure, it has been test run for approx 2 hours.
I understand this type of engine is fitted to some boats
The engine is located in Saint Boswells Scottish Borders, assistance avaliable to load to a vehicle or can be mounted on a pallet for collection.
