Right a little history of the car. It was purchased and owned by an elderly couple back in 1984. In 1989 due to ill health the car was subsequently garaged and never used until it was sold in 2009. It was then acquired by a member of the same family who also very rarely used the car. Lastly the car was purchased by a Skoda enthusiast in June 2010; who never managed to find the time to fully restore the car to its former glory. He did however re-commission the mechanical side to a high standard, replacing many new parts and presenting the car for its current MOT. It did of course require certain things to enable a pass; of which were promptly repaired/ replaced. Mechanically the car is in great shape and is boasting the original gearbox and engine, which is nice to find. With the extremely low mileage the car drives lovely, no bangs, knocks or creaks it really is a pleasure to drive. The engine pulls well through the gears and to be honest for an old girl she is pretty nippy. I am not going to list every single part fitted as I would be here all day but everything that has needed doing has been done.
The exterior condition of the car again is in a very pleasing condition for 28 years old. The bodywork is 90% original and in excellent shape. I have had some paintwork carried out to the driver’s front door and driver’s front wing as these were the worst parts of the car when I purchased. The black vinyl roof is in excellent condition and the sunroof works perfectly and does not leak! The interior is excellent showing NO signs of wear, completely original and untouched. I have had the original KN Engineering Jupiter wheels (very rare now) shot blasted, powder coated and all four tyres are new.
There is little in respect of past paperwork although I do have the original owner’s handbook/ service book which has a couple of stamps from years ago. Remember the car has bee stored since 1989 and has not been used on the road since, apart from recent journey for MOT. I of course have driven the car locally to road test and found absolutely nothing wrong; it’s as if it’s been on the road since 1984.
In my opinion this is a car you can either show or use as a daily modern classic runner. It is in extremely good condition throughout, all original, never welded, the underneath is in excellent shape. It is bursting with character and turns many heads on the open road! It’s real fun to drive and reassuringly quite solid and safe too.
