Entered in the event both in 2015 and 2016 this a well known and admired post war sports car with a well documented history file.

Supplied with FIVA papers and extensive documentation of it's complete restoration in 2014 by Premium Classic Cars where great measures were made to return chassis number SL0216 to as close to original condition as possible, this included returning an original SIATA drive train to the car and fitting Borrani wire wheels which were worn by original SIATA Mille Miglia cars.

The SIATA Type A can be distinguished by it's front-hinged bonnet and forward sitting engine this particular model was supplied by Ernie McAfee of Hollywood .

Based on the Fiat 1400, the Daina or Gran Sport is a carefully crafted special. It was the largest of the models offered by Siata and featured simple aluminum bodywork. Built at their Turin facility, Siata improved the Fiat 140 with extra cross members and reduced the drive shaft length. They also retained the standard Fiat suspension setup with double wishbones up front. In this chassis was fitted with a Fiat 1400cc engine that had a unique over-head valve arrangement that was unique to Siata. Also fitted was Weber Carburetors that raised the stock power from 60 to 72 bhp. This was attached to the stock 4-speed manual or a custom Siata 5-speed box.

Founded in 1926 by enthusiastic amateur racing driver Giorgio Ambrosini, Siata - short for Societa Italiana Applicazione Transformazone Automobilistiche - began by specialising in providing tuning equipment for various cars, mainly Fiats and in particular the 508 Ballila of 1932 for which Siata more than doubled the power output. There was also an overhead valve conversion for the Topolino, a car on which Siata based several road and racing models; one derivative was a 596cc aerodynamic coupe‚ that in 1938 set a world class speed record by topping 70 mph.
