( WE CAN EASILY ARRANGE TO HAVE THIS VERY RARE PEPPER POT SWAN NECK 1951 VELOSOLEX DELIVERED ANYWHERE )
Rare 1951 early model Velosolex 45cc
French Solex model pepperpot / Col de Cygne. This model is pepper pot named for the shape of the air filter and in French Col de sygne what swan neck means and refers to the shape of the frame.
The idea of the Solex was coined during World War II by Menneson and Maurice Goddard and marketed in 1946. After the war there was a need for a cheap and efficient transport. The purchase of a Velosolex was lower than the average monthly wage and consumption was very economical, this was the basis of a very popular vehicle for many French but was also popular in many other countries. Thus the Solex a time icon. The engine was a 45cc and by means of a lever and roller drive the front wheel. Consumption was 1l/ 100km which corresponded with one refueling. The top speed was 28km / h..
