Daihatsu Taft (TAFT stands for Tough Almighty Four wheel drive Transport) is a four wheel drive vehicle built by Daihatsu between 1974 and 1984. It was also sold as the Daihatsu Wildcat and as the Daihatsu Scat in some markets. The Daihatsu Taft is similar to the Suzuki Jimny, although a bit larger. The first Taft was the F10, introduced in 1974. It was equipped with a 1. 0 L (958 cc) petrol engine and a four-speed transmission with a two-range transfer case. The F10 was available in short-wheel-base (SWB) soft-top and hardtop versions. In around 1977, the F10 was replaced with the F20 series with the 1. 6 L (1587 cc) 12R petrol engine. It featured an improved transmission and was available in SWB Soft top and Hard top versions, either as four or six seaters.
This car is a 1979 Daihatsu F20 Taft which is now very rare. It was originally supplied by The Firs Garage in Banbury to Mr C. Phillips of Eastleach on 12th September 1979. The vehicle has a totally restored body, it has very good paint work, there is no rust or rot and is very solid, and has good tyres fitted all round. It runs and drives very well and has recently had a full engine rebuild with the invoice in the history file along with the original service book. The Daihatsu has an MoT through to August 2018 with no advisories. The hood is in good condition and is a very simple job to remove.
