The MkVI was effectively an all-new car, and had plenty of new technology to boast about. It was the first Bentley with a steel body as standard, although many buyers still took the coachbuilding route - and rightly so, as so many of the convertibles, tourers and shooting brakes were so attractive looking.
Its chassis was quite advanced for the time, with independent front suspension, servo brakes, a four-speed gearbox and the very useful centralised chassis lubrication system.

Car drives and handles very well
The cost of restoring a Mark VI saloon can be several times the car’s market value; however, once repaired, a Mark VI is relatively inexpensive to maintain and can ably serve as a daily driver. As such, an honest Bentley Mk VI can be a good introduction to classic motoring. Of course, the same does not hold true for a car with deferred maintenance, so buy with diligence, and insist on service / maintenance records like this one has.
