Description

Pastel Blue Metallic | Roadster | 4 Speed Manual | 3. 4 litre straight six | $64, 995

Launched at the 1948 Earl’s Court Motor Show to a war-weary Britain, the XK120 with its plunging wave style lines and 120 mph performance was the car that lifted Jaguar from ambitious British challenger to global motoring icon.

It’s all new six cylinder twin OHC power plant would also go on to achieve major competition success, including 5 wins at Le Mans in both the C and D types throughout the 1950's.

Along with its race proven engine, the XK120’s chassis delivered incredible handling and following a speed run on a Belgian highway reaching 212 km/ h it was also deemed the fastest production car in the world.

The embodiment of the finest features of British styling and forward thinking engineering as well as providing a wonderful legacy for Sir William Lyons, one of Britain's great post war designers and industrialists the Jaguar XK120 is arguably one of the most storied sports cars of all time with a resume other manufacturers can only gaze upon.

Accounting for less than 17% of overall production due to higher demand from export markets and additional governmental resources being allocated to companies that exported much of their production, right hand drive XK120’s are simply put - rare and today the most desirable of their kind to collect.

Presented here in exceedingly original, unrestored condition and privately housed in this same state since the mid 1970’s after undergoing preparation for a restoration that never eventuated there is no better Jaguar XK120 OTS for the discerning enthusiast to own and invest in.

Corresponding with the accompanying heritage certificate, chassis number 660263 was completed on the 9th of November 1950 and dispatched from the factory on the 17th of November to Sydney Jaguar Bylaws.

Ordered in Pastel Blue over Duo-Blue trim with a French Grey soft-top this very early XK120 has remained with the same owner for some 50 years and importantly retains its numbers matching engine, transmission, chassis and body.

With a level of remarkable originality so rarely found this XK120 still features important factory fitted parts from the starter motor, cylinder head, the windscreen and its aluminium frame, differential, the ash and alloy deck lid, all of its correct stamped body panels and steering wheel to the bronze “Jaguar Cars Ltd, Coventry” badge still fitted to the bonnet.

Totally refreshing to find and an ideal acquisition for the most fastidious Jaguar enthusiast searching for a unique investment or, for the collector prepared to underwrite a restoration this rare and largely original XK120 offers an unrivalled opportunity to own one of the finest sports cars ever made.
