A lovely tr8 in good usable condition.
a fascinating car, this is a bl prototype car for the tr8. owned by british leyland for 18 months before they registered it on the road, and sold it themselves directly. I have the original v5 showing bl cars as the first owner, registered as a v8.
this has not or has ever been a converted tr7.
bl tried 2 engines on this car, firstly a carburretored one, and still has the bonnet dimples to accommodate the carbs, then fuel injected. It is a platinum californian spec car, but has never been exported. It has been a uk car from new and as rare as hens teeth.
it now has a 3. 9 engine that is lovely, she growls, is quite loud and has blistering performance, and with a 5 speed gear box, power steering and brakes makes this a useable car.
i have all the mot's since its very first one and the ultra low mileage of 37000 is accurate.
i have a huge file with the car , the previous owners have been aware from the onset that it is a rare and interesting car, there are details of every owner, all v5s from new.
a great car, a real bruiser, in good original condition, not over restored but nice with the patina of a 35 year old car.
has not been used lately so may need the odd job doing here or there. Comes with a big box of spares , new soft top ready to fit, the old one is shot.
