1991 Kawasaki ZZR600D for spares or repair.
This is a none runner and will need to be collected in a van or on a trailer. Not MOT and not running.
Best described as 'ratty', what remains of the fairings have been painted badly, as has the tank, but there are one or two nice bits - the wheels are in decent condition for the age of the bike, the swing arm will probably scrub up ok. The forks aren't too bad either with only minor pitting and none as far as I can see in the travel area.
Fork seals seem to be intact, but if you were recommissioning the bike you might want to renew these anyway.
Chain and sprockets appear to be in fair order.
I bought this from my local bike garage in November last year; it had been traded in to them and the owner did not want to see it on again retail. Having bought several bikes from him in the past I decided to buy this to renovate over the winter. However, very busy times with family and work have meant that I have simply not had the time and now have no inclination to do anything with it, and need the garage space.
When the dealer delivered it in his van it started up fine on my drive and engine sounded surprisingly nice; I rode it into on my private road and back into my garage from my drive and there it has stayed basically untouched since. At that time the gears engaged, but the clutch wanted adjusting - the front brakes worked but the rear was disconnected, a master cylinder for the rear brake does come with the bike.
I have since had to take off the calipers at the front to move the bike as they were binding, and the pistons/ seals etc would definitely require renewing.
There was some slight milkyness in the oil sight glass when the bike had stood after running, this could just have been condensation, but could mean that the head gastket has gone - never got as far to looking into it.
Some one at some time seems to have had a go at mirror polishing the frame at the front, rear portion is painted black.
Ignition is on a switch, not a key - but the badly home made switch is plugged in with a multi-block connector without the wiring being damaged - indeed, the wiring at the front is quite bad but it seems someone has just spliced into the old loom rather than modifying and so could be sortable - again, I have not looked at this really.
Fan is also on a switch.
Seems to be a little bit of rust in tank, but not too bad - should be sortable.
Not running now as battery is dead, think there may have been a parasitic leak somewhere and when I removed the tank to drain the fuel the connectors on the in line fuel filter were brittle and snapped, so cannot be heard running - hence sold as entirely as a none runner/ project or for spares.
