Tyne Valley Classic Motorcycle Club
The Tyne Valley Classic Motorcycle Club was formed 18 years ago as the Northumberland section of the AJS + Matchless owners club, meeting at the Errington Arms on the Military Road. Robin Watson put an ad in the local paper and the respondents, John Hunter, Ken + Billy Bates were the first members. As time passed and the club grew there were fewer owners of these machines and more owners of a much wider variety of bikes from home and abroad. Therefore a re-think in the year 2000 saw some of the AMC men move off to re-form their section and we were re-born under our current title. Several moves over the years see us at The Wheatsheaf in Corbridge.
Founder members of the original club, Robin Watson and Ken Bates are still with us - Robin is currently our chairman.
Our basic premise is simply that we are a club for those who have an interest in old motorbikes - ownership is not a requirement of membership.
