The Appeal

Volkswagen’s Beetle may be far better known, but Sweden’s own ‘people’s car’ is the one with proper rally heritage and, we’ll wager, a much more innovative layout. Streamlined styling made the most of the 2 stroke 3cyl 750cc engine while clever engineering meant the 93 kept going whatever the road condition.

The 93B, from 1957, introduced the single piece screen, but otherwise it was business as usual. This very pretty 1960 model arrived in South Africa in 1960 as part of a small number of imports and has been reunited with its consecutive chassis number car as part of the seller’s collection.

Finished in pretty red with a matching two-tone interior, it is a magnificent find in very good condition thanks to the sympathetic South African climate. It may also be due to the car spending four decades in a Johannesburg museum before being picked up by a keen collector.

The 93B is one of motoring’s most intelligent classics and this one is both pretty and well preserved. You could buy it alone or we’re hoping it stays with its chassis stablemate. It has been recently checked over, fuel system cleaned and engine serviced.
