Only 101 examples of the much revered GT model were supplied to the European market of which only 28 were delivered to UK customers.
This is one of those rare UK supplied examples and it has perhaps the best original specification with Midnight Blue paintwork and contracting painted white stripes with the upgrade alloy wheel option as detailed on the original factory order that accompany’s the car.
Getting hold of a Ford GT when new was very difficult with only proven and enthusiastic collectors able to order one. The first owner of this example was just such an individual who has owned many great cars over the years. He kept the GT until 2014 covering less than 2, 000 dry miles in his tenure with maintenance being followed scrupulously as per schedule.
In 2014 a regular Hairpin customer purchased the car for his notable private collection and covered less than 200 miles in it before we sold the car earlier this year. Again the car was perfectly stored and maintained in this period.
We sold the car in late spring to a regular and loyal customer who again has owned many great cars. He has used the car carefully covering less than 1000 dry miles and again it has been very carefully looked after and maintained with a recent full service including drive belt and correct type new tyres.
Today the car remains fresh, unmarked and totally original in all respects with less than 3, 000 miles covered. The perfect condition of the underside and detail is ample proof of the cosseted life it has led. It comes with a full and very detailed history from the original “expression of interest” letter to Ford dealer Dagenham Motors to the subsequent confirmation letter, order form, original invoice, through to all maintenance invoicing, correspondence and MOT certificates. It has the complete book pack, tools and keys.
