This beautiful Jaguar Series 1 3. 8 Roadster is according to the Jaguar Heritage Certificate an original UK RHD Matching Numbers car - Chassis No: 850745 and Engine No: RA 2916-9 and it was built in Coventry on 29th July 1963 and supplied new by Jaguar dealer Coombs of Guildford and first registered on 28th August 1963.
It is finished in Opalescent Gunmetal Metallic with Red Leather trim, Red carpets, Black mohair Soft Top, 3781cc 265bhp Straight Six Engine, 4 Speed Manual Gearbox and Borrani Wire Wheels and has a really nice numberplate 1580 PF.
The previous owner of 14 years commissioned a complete body restoration in 1998/ 9 and there are a few photo's in the file for this and the Engine was also rebuilt by Jaguar specialist VSE in Wales in 1998 when the speedometer was showing 67, 000 miles. He kept the car for a further 7 years until 2006 when it was sold through Coys Auction house to the current keeper in September 2006.
It is now showing 77, 631 miles on the speedometer, so only 10, 000 since the restoration, but we cannot confirm this to be its original mileage from new as there is insufficient documentation in the history file.
This is a stunning car in this colour combination and mechanically it is excellent and certainly one of the nicest E Types we have had the pleasure to drive. There are few cosmetic blemishes in the paintwork, but nothing drastic and perhaps to be expected after 20 years.
As an original Series 1 3. 8 RHD car, this is a pretty rare car and according to the DVLA records there are only 241 still registered. A great car to be enjoyed and driven and an appreciating asset.
