We all enjoy a good ‘sleeper’. An unassuming car that appears standard but secretly packs a punch, and (minus the discreet ‘Turbo’ badge on the rear bootlid!) this 1989 Volvo 440 Turbo is a textbook example.
This immaculate car is pristine throughout – not as the result of an extensive restoration, but as a result of being garaged its entire life and having covered just 13k miles from its one and only registered owner!
As well as the aforementioned ‘Turbo’ badge, the more discerning Volvo fan might recognise the factory rear spoiler and lowered suspension. This Turbo model was well-equipped inside, too, with heated seats, trip computer and additional Turbo and Oil Temp gauges.
On the road, the car drives superbly and the 1. 7 turbo engine performs extremely well, while the history file shows 23 main dealer stamps in the service book and shows the car had its timing belt changed at 12, 046 miles.
Mint condition, one-owner, low-mileage cars like this are extremely rare and, given that there are only 12 left registered in the UK, this must be the lowest mileage 440 Turbo left anywhere and is a superb alternative to an equivalent GTi from the era.
