The Appeal
For a four door car primarily designed as functional family transport, the Fiat ‘Millecento’ offers classics so much more. As this pretty green and ivory car proves, it is as tempting and appealing as good gelato.
The joy of the 1100 lies in its nostalgic familiarity and the brilliant way it drives. The 103D arrived in September 1957 with revised rear styling, larger boot, better brakes and a more powerful version of the 1.1L engine. The vendor bought this car in 2021 and tells us that it has had just one previous keeper in its 68 years. It was restored in 2022 in the original colour scheme, but is a pleasing mix of original and improved. The two-tone interior with its diamond pattern bench seats is a particular delight. The car is said to be matching numbers with an extensively rebuilt engine. It is indicative of th vendor’s approach that parts of the exhaust have been replaced but with carefully fabricated custom parts to replicate the originals.
Well documented and mechanically sorted, this Millecento presents a rare opportunity to acquire a fine example of an iconic Italian saloon.
