The Appeal
Arguably Jaguar's most legendary saloon, the MK2's curvy styling and effortless British milieu have become synonymous with the 1960s, and continue to make for a very nostalgic, popular classic. Of all of the Lyons overseen motors, these were the cars that most captured that legendary slogan - Grace . . . Space . . . Pace. Three iterations of the car were available, with the 3.8-litre being the shortest-lived and most thrilling. The combination of the smooth, powerful XK straight-six with a four-speed manual transmission and overdrive makes for an eminently drivable car, with 220hp on offer for the lucky driver.
This 1966 example was restored in the late 1980s/early 1990s and spent some time in Greece before returning to the UK. Purchased by the current owner in 2022 from Scotland, it has since been stored in a dry garage under a cover and has benefited from a significant programme of mechanical work focused on reliability and usability, as outlined in the Detail section below. The vendor states the car starts 'on the button', idles well, and keeps up with modern traffic with ease.
It's a very honest classic throughout - a real patina'd, usable car that's ready and waiting for its lucky new keeper. image.png1.43 MB
