The Appeal

If ever a classic Porsche deserved greater recognition, it's the 914. Many sneered at its Volkswagen components, but get behind the wheel of one of these mid-engined marvels, and you're sure to change your mind. These are fabulous cars to drive; lightweight, beautifully balanced in a way the 911 never was, and blessed with some of the quirkiest styling of any sports car. The 914 also has a Targa roof, meaning it can be transformed into a convertible by removing a lightweight panel.

Our 1.7-litre four-cylinder 1971 example is offered in smart condition, as the photographs show, while the numerous accompanying invoices attest to its good maintenance history.
