The Appeal
The 914 was Porsche’s first attempt to broaden its model range beyond the 911. It showcased the firm’s mid-engined approach, which would later appear on the Boxster. Interest in these previously overlooked cars is on the rise, and here we have a very special example.
This car features the period Lenner bodywork conversion, which was popular in Germany in the 1970s when the 914 was new. The kit channels styling ideas from the race-going 914/6 GT car, and in the frontal treatment, with its pop-up headlights, there are also hints of the later ‘Flachbau’ option 911 available in the 1980s.
Today the Lenner converted cars are extremely rare, especially ones as well presented as this 1973 914/4. Finished in red, it is in fine condition inside and out, the interior, with its suede and vinyl trim, presenting particularly well. The vendor rates the car as ‘Grade 2’ - namely, with a few minor marks.
We’re told that the car has been regularly serviced and will be sold freshly inspected and serviced. Here is a chance to discover one of Porsche’s hidden gems with some neat and eye-catching period cosmetic upgrades.
The vendor says:
"The Lenner conversion gives this 914 a unique character that will appeal to enthusiasts seeking something special and individual. For those looking for a well-maintained, distinctive Porsche 914 that's ready to enjoy, this represents a compelling proposition."
