The Appeal
The A112 was Autobianchi’s response to the Mini, and what a car. With a wheel at each corner, just like the Brit, and light weight, it was as entertaining and arguably more stylish than its overseas peer. And then there was the Abarth version…
This car takes the hot Abarth-tuned model and makes it considerably better. Beneath the bonnet is a fully rebuilt, carefully upgraded engine by specialist Passione A112 Rally. Elsewhere, as the pictures show, are an array of improvements including a roll cage and Sparco seats that turn this tiny car into a proper road rocket.
We’ve listed the high specification below. This is a car designed to be used so there are a few points to note in the photos. There is scope to improve it, or simply enjoy a hugely entertaining little car.

“The Autobianchi A112 was the 1st 3-door supermini hatchback. It was developed on the Fiat 128's platform. The mechanicals subsequently underpinned the Fiat 127.
“The sportiest version was the A112 Abarth, introduced in September 1971. It was prepared by the Abarth motorsports division of the Fiat Group. This version is a 1,062 cc 90 HP at 80000 rpm, with a weight of under 700 kg (1,500 lb).
“This particular car was previously FIA Registered with a CSAI Passport in Italy. The original FIA/CSAI papers will be included with the car together with a Large history file since UK purchase. Original Italian Event scrutineers Verificato stickers on car.
“It also has the original Italian Abarth Certification and the Gold Plate on the dash signifying an original A112 Abarth.
“The Italian owner was based in Sicily, the car is a solid car with signs of age. Original Sicilian dealer Sticker still on car. Since the UK-purchased car has been garaged & treated as a dry-weather car.
“It is stripped out for competition, although road legal & exempt from tax as a historic car. The bodywork is solid although the car is a competition car with signs of age and some scratch marks to the body. Original seats, bumpers trim and other original parts included plus original engine block.
“The car was purchased with full Sparco Roll Cage/Original Cromodora Lightweight Magnesium wheels (now refurbished & Repainted) /2 Sparco Race Seats/5 Point Race Harness/Sat Nav Speedometer/Battery Cut Off/Extinguisher System(Needs new cylinder/re-commissioning)/Sparco front strut.
“It now has a professionally built & installed 1062cc performance 90BHp engine. The additional power and handling improvements have created a well-balanced and competitive car.
