The History and Paperwork
Restored over a three-year period
Galvanised Chassis
Re-galvanised windscreen frame and door cappings
Door tops replaced with new and the felt channels for the sliding windows also replaced
Everything renovated or replaced as required with new suspension, bushes and brakes
The interior has been completely renovated and looks a very comfortable and presentable Series 3 interior with some pleasant improvements.
With new deluxe seats in the front, rear bench seats and tailored rubber mats, being freshly painted inside, including the rear hard top, it all looks great and in excellent condition as it’s virtually all brand new.
The dashboard, instrument panel and switches have all been nicely tidied up and presented which makes the cabin even more inviting and the cubby box is all in great condition.
It’s had new inertia seat belts fitted, all the window and door rubber seals look new and, other than a very small nick in the recovered dashboard and a small patch of bubbling paint under the passenger side dashboard, it’s very hard to find fault with.Phil Redcliffe - Land Rover-108.jpg2.67 MB
The Exterior
Fabulous condition
Excellent wheels and tyres
Fully re-sprayed in bronze green and limestone
The body panels, doors, hinges and just about everything on the exterior of the car have been restored or replaced to a very high standard and the overall result is very impressive.
There are a few small niggles to mention, in that the paint on the slam panel under the bonnet is showing some bubbling, as is the bottom lip of the rear door and the rear ¾ nearside lower rear panel has some slight damage.
The front grill is in really good condition, it has all new lights, door handles and mud-flaps all round. The wheels look brand new having been painted limestone to match the hard-top and they all sit on brand new Deestone period tyres.Phil Redcliffe - Land Rover-8.jpg3.53 MB
The Mechanics
Refurbished 5MB 2.25 petrol engine
Refurbished gearbox and new clutch
Rebuilt Webber carburettor
New radiator
New parabolic springs and shock absorbers with new bushes all round
Brakes fully reconditioned, including new copper brake lines
New ignition system
New exhaust
Starting with the brand-new galvanized chassis the car has undergone a complete and thorough restoration with every mechanical part, including the electrics, being stripped right down and either renovated or renewed.
It rides well on the improved shock absorbers and pulls well in all the gears, with high low ratios working.
One look under the bonnet or under the car for that matter indicates that mechanically this car is likely to be in good shape as everything looks very clean and tidy.Phil Redcliffe - Land Rover-78.jpg2.36 MB
Summary
This is a very handsome and comprehensively restored and improved, probably one of the best around, Series 3 Land Rover and great examples of this iconic model are always going to be in great demand.
