The Citroen 2CV was produced from 1948 to 1990, 42 years in production it is without doubt one of the most iconic cars to have ever been produced, famed the World over and still in high demand for original low mileage vehicles. 

The 2CV (deux-chevaux or two horses) was conceived in the late 1930’s as an affordable and rugged vehicle that could comfortably carry four people, it was designed to be used across rugged farmland and uneven roads if required, making it a real all rounder. Popular with farmers especially due to its soft ride and ability to soften the uneven territory it was set upon.

The current owner has owned the vehicle since May 2016, purchased from a Citroen enthusiast who had cherished the vehicle. Through the different years and different owners, there were some major renovations to the car, including galvanizing the chassis and fitting an electronic ignition.

The car has had thousands of pounds spent on it with the current keeper and these include replacement gearbox, brake calipers and master cylinder, clutch, alternator and complete new seating with the exception of the frames. 

The original red roof has been replaced with a new soft top in grey to give a contrast against the solid bright red paintwork, which was resprayed in 2020. The car has been enjoyed on daily runs and weekend breaks, the plan recently was to take it to France to a holiday home but with restrictions in place the car has not had the opportunity to go back to its ancestral home. 

Hopefully the new owner can make this happen!

The car comes with a wealth of paperwork, receipts are extensive and are provided in a lever arch file charting parts purchased, all MOTS charting the cars mileage and other paperwork showing its history over the last thirty years are included, along with two sets of keys. 

With new seating inside and the cars little usage over the last few years it is like new, the period style cloth works well against the bright red paintwork and blends in with the new grey roll back roof. The padding and springs have also been replaced making this a comfortable runaround. 

A JVC radio/CD player is fitted with a pair of speakers, all switchgear is operational and the dashboard area is clean and functional. 

The floor areas are clean and show no signs of wear in the front or back, both door cards are clean and the only areas that show damage is on the edge of the drivers off side front door, this just requires a touch in to hide the small chips that are shown in the photographs. 

The boot area is like new and holds a full size spare wheel which is in very good condition, tools are also included and the owner has produced a new boot shelf to cover the boot well so that it can be used practically.

The solid red paintwork is gleaming and contrasts well against the off white wheels and new grey vinyl roof. There are areas around the bodywork that show some signs of corrosion but this has been painted over and sealed, notable areas are just around the front windscreen and rear area of the vehicle above the bumper.

All glasswork is clean and windows are operational throughout on each door, the vinyl roof rolls back smoothly and gives another spin on this charming French classic. 

The tyres are a mix of Nankang and Toyo brands and have good tread throughout, with two tyres and wheels purchased recently. Bumpers and other exterior trims are in good order, along with the front and rear headlights.

The cars recently had an extensive overhaul, with replacement gearbox, clutch, alternator, combined outlet and inlet manifold. With a fresh MOT that runs until January 2023 the car is mechanically sound and ready to enjoy straight away. 

The washer pump, window catches, gaiter de-mister tubes, door seals, wiper blades, front grille, fuel pump and door boards are all new as well.

The 2CV is an icon all over the World, it will always make people smile due to its charm and French flair. In the bright red paintwork the car makes even more of a statement and is an ideal daily driver, a classic to cherish and use for those weekend breaks or classic car shows.

With former owners having spent time and money getting the car in tip top condition, it is now ready for the next owner to enjoy and have many more miles of joyous motoring.
