The Appeal

This example has benefitted from a low owner count all of whom seem to have been enthusiastic and engaged owners. As such a great deal of time and money has been lavished on this example and putting it into a flexible specification that could be enjoyed as is or further developed into a full camper specification.

The History and Paperwork

• The 110 is a UK supplied model first registered in the UK in March 2001
• The first owner retained the Land Rover until April 2012
• The Land Rover had covered around 60,000 miles at this time
• The current owner acquired the Land Rover in July 2021
• At this juncture the 110 had covered around 132,000 miles
• In their near two-year ownership, the current owner has added around 12,000 miles
• The Land Rover appears to have been diligently maintained throughout its history
• The paperwork includes the V5 in the name of the owner
• The current MOT is present in hard copy and valid until September 2023
• Numerous previous MOTs are also included
• A good number of maintenance and parts invoices are included
• These document a spend of over £12,000 in current ownership
• A Haynes Manual is present as is documentation related to the alarm system
• Two keys are included together with magnetic window screens and hook up cable
  
  

The Interior

• The interior of this 110 has aged very well and features a number of additions
• The front seats feature Exmoor patterned fabric seat bases and plain fabric backs
• These are thought to be later additions so are in a fine condition
• The rear seats are original Exmoor trimmed fabric items
• These are individual seats that can be folded or removed as required
• The cabin flooring is courtesy of hard-wearing rubber matting
• The original headliner looks to be tightly fitted and in good, overall condition
• The dashboard is a mix of standard Land Rover fare and uprated additions
• The instrument binnacle is a standard affair but sits behind a Mota Lita steering wheel
• This is a large, three spoked alloy item with varnished wooden rim
• It is fitted to a special boss for quick and easy removal for security purposes
• A mud console has been fitted in the centre of the dashboard
• This contains a Pioneer radio and CD player head unit
• A number of auxiliary switches are situated below this
• Some of these operate the auxiliary exterior lights and some are redundant
• Twin digital voltmeters are also fitted here with one connected to the battery
• The other is currently redundant monitoring a battery no longer fitted
• There is a camera operated rear view mirror which also works as a front and rear dash cam
• The Land Rover has rear parking sensors with a display in place of the ash tray
• There are also additional 12v sockets fitted
• The battery compartment has an additional bank of fuses for the auxiliary features
• There is a diesel heater in the 110 connected to the fuel tank
• This currently isn’t wired in, but the owner believes it could be easily reinstated
• The rear compartment has been finished with sound deadening and rubber matting
• Plug sockets are fitted and connected to an exterior hook up that can be used on campsites
• The rear door is fitted with a folding shelf and camping stove mounting receptacle 
• A fire extinguisher is also located here
• The rear windows are secured with security plating 
• One of the sliding side rear windows has been sealed and doesn’t currently open

The Exterior

• The Land Rover presents in full adventurer specification
• The 110 is finished in Caledonian Blue with areas of black painted chequer plate
• Tubular side bars are fitted and finished in black
• A full snorkel is fitted, and the car is reportedly wading prepared
• The Heritage style grill is finished in black and twin Wipac 4x4 driving lights are fitted
• A full length, black tubular cargo roof rack is fitted with rear ladder access
• This is fitted with additional LED lights fitted to the front bar
• Twin steps are fitted at the rear together with a central tow hitch
• The owner reports some small dents in the side, as well as rust spots around the body
• These are superficial and believed to be easy repairs
• The passenger row doors have some cracks due to rust so may require some welding
• The Land Rover rests on anthracite coloured 16-inch steel Land Rover wheels
• These are in a good overall condition and fitted with a matching set of BF Goodrich tyres
• These are chunky, off-road items in 235/85 configuration with white side wall text
• A spare wheel and tyre is affixed to the rear door
  
  

The Mechanics

• The 110 has benefitted from a huge amount of mechanical attention in the last two years
• The last two owners have taken the Defender to renowned 4x4 specialists for maintenance
• The key work includes reconditioned engine with all parts remanufactured
• A new crankshaft and a new turbo have been fitted together with a new intercooler
• A LOF dual flywheel clutch has been installed
• This work alone amounts to around £8,000 of expenditure
• A new steering box has been fitted together with new power steering pressure pipe
• The brake pipes have been replaced across the whole car
• Heavy duty rear half shafts were fitted by the previous owner
• The Land Rover enjoyed its last specialist service in September 2022
• The engine bay looks to be in a good condition overall
• The underside presents well too and has been previously waxoiled 
• The owner reports the Land Rover as driving beautifully with plenty of power
• Unusually for a Defender, he reports the steering as responsive thanks to new steering box
