Beschreibung
For sale is my desirable Mercedes Benz SL320 (R129) from 1999, a facelift model registered on 5th May and benefits from the later V6 engine. This particular car includes a number of factory extras; black nappa leather, wood and leather steering wheel and a glass panoramic hard top, heated memory seats together with a rear wind deflector. Three sets of keys and supporting history and documentation.
Service History
There is a full service history with either Mercedes Benz main agents or Mercedes specialists. The car was fully restored in 2017 by R129 specialists Prestige Car Services and was chosen as a particularly fine example and featured in the November 2017 edition of the Mercedes Enthusiast Magazine a copy of which will be included in the sale for your interest and record. Rear brake discs and pads were replaced approximately 6 months ago. The vehicle is currently MOT’d until 27-10-2023
Engine
This SL is equipped with the fantastic M112 3. 2 litre 18-valve Single Overhead Cam V6 producing just over 220bhp. This engine replaced the older straight six that powered earlier SL320’s. The V6 is cleaner, more powerful, quieter and more economical by using lightweight materials including aluminium and magnesium for components including the crankshaft and intake manifold making it 20kg lighter. This later engine also has a twin spark ignition system.
Gearbox
The V6 engine is paired with a five-speed gearbox superior to the previous four speed on earlier R129’s. The water pump was replaced a couple of years ago.
Interior
Black Nappa leather electronically operated and heated memory seats and bucket rear (with seat belts). Black carpet throughout. Automatic climate control. MB original AM/ FM radio cassette player and storage units which has been paired with a 6 CD auto changer located in the boot. The vehicle is supplied with a matching hard top with panoramic glass in first class condition.
Exterior
The Brilliant Silver exterior colour really suit the SL styling together with original alloy wheels all in perfect condition. The hydraulically operated black fabric roof is in fantastic condition and operates perfectly.
As with all classic cars they deteriorate with time in certain areas despite being regularly serviced and generally looked after. On the R129 SL’s these can for example include corrosion of the front wings a brake hoses, all these areas have been addressed on this vehicle.
All in all this car is in brilliant condition and represents a very useable, fun and appreciating investment. The vehicle currently has a cherished number plate which I will be retaining and so the number plate will revert to its original registration number T548 AFP.
