AC Daytona Coupe (Replica) - Factory Five Racing - 2022
Only six original Daytona Coupes were ever made, so finding a genuine one is going to be very difficult. Finding a replica for sale is not easy, but to find such a well built example of the Gen 3 Factory Five Racing (FFR) Type 65 in such great condition may well be as hard to find as an original. I don't think there's another Right Hand Drive, UK registered Coupe for sale in the UK at the moment, I couldn't find one.
The FFR Daytona Coupe Gen 3 has a completely new chassis, compared to the Gen2, that's 7. 5 times more rigid due to an all new CAD designed space frame chassis.
This example has full Independent Rear Suspension with Upper and Lower tubular control arms, a Limited Slip Differential (Ford 8. 8), fully independent front suspension with unequal length upper / lower "A" arms and a Tremec TKX 5 speed gearbox (this is the newest Tremec gearbox, capable of handling 600lb/ ft torque)
I am a professional Continuous Improvements Engineer and this is the 4th car I have built over the past 20 odd years.
She was built using all new parts with the exception of a fully re-conditioned professionally built Ford V8 302 from 1967 - stroked to 347CI (5. 7L)
Passing the IVA test on the 13th of October 2022, she is fully road legal and registered in the UK as a 2022 car, which means she doesn't need an MOT till October 2025.
She is cheap to tax, at around £295 a year and servicing is incredibly easy, can be done at home or by most any good mechanic, so also very cheap to run.
I haven't swapped the registration number out for a 1965 age related plate as yet, these are around £130 inc DVLA fees, but it can easily be done if you wanted a more age related plate. Personally I liked the fact it has a brand new plate, but that's just my opinion.
All the documentation including the Build order form, Build Manuals, receipts for most every part, IVA documentation, registration documents, certificate of authenticity and loads of photos of the build are included in the sale.
I have a pit in my garage if anyone wants to inspect the chassis and build quality, she looks superb even from underneath.
There is a slight blemish in the paint on the rear quarter, just to the rear of the fuel filler, hopefully you can see this in the photos. A small decal would cover it up, but I didn't want to hide anything, so I have left this for the future owner to either cover or to ignore. To be honest, you would be hard pressed to see it, but I know it's there.
It's just had it's suspension geometry setup, so drives superbly, much better than my Dax Cobra, indeed it is so much better in every way compared to the Cobra I have, FFR are renowned for their race proven chassis, in the States they win a lot of autocross championships against Ferraris and Porsches, you can tell just by looking at the chassis how well it's been designed and engineered.
