Introduced in 1996, the second-generation Wrangler is easily identified by the round headlamps from the classic Jeep models. This updated Wrangler featured a modern coil-spring suspension, offering significantly improved ride quality.

This particular car is the Sahara model and was registered in September 1999 on the then-new 'V' plate with the 181 BHP 4. 0 Litre straight six engine and a five speed manual gearbox, and has covered just 48, 500 miles from new. It also features the switchable 2-wheel / 4-wheel drive option, and is kitted out for off-road use with the Sahara-branded Snorkel air intake attachment. However, the overall condition of the car would suggest that it's rarely, if ever, seen much off-road action.

The car presents very well in Forest green metallic paint with original bonnet and side decals and a very smart and well-cared for but unusual two-cone green and caramel interior. There are few age-related marks on the body, as you'd expect, but nothing that detracts from the overall look of the car.

Despite the low mileage the car has obviously been used regularly throughout its life and is currently MOT'd until November 2023. However a new MOT can be obtained for the next keeper if required.
On the road the engine pulls well and there's a good induction roar from the Snorkel. There are no untoward knocks or bangs from the suspension, the gearchange is smooth and the clutch feels nice and positive.

The car is largely original, with only some uprated headlamps, additional fog / driving lamps and a modern stereo head unit added over the years.

Note that the car was recorded as a Cat D write-off in 2006. It has been properly repaired since then, but the values of these dropped like a stone in the early 00's and it probably wouldn't have taken much to write it off. We believe that the damage was limited to the nearside front axle area, but have nothing to back this up other than anecdotal evidence from the previous owner.

A couple of videos of the car are available on YouTube. Search for the registration number.

Open to any inspection or trial.

I love the looks, the effortless performance and the induction roar
