Description

Lovely 1981 Honda CB250RS kick start version - the better one - in excellent condition. Largely original condition, masses of spares, fully restored by me (engineer and classic bike enthusiast) from the frame up a couple of years ago using genuine Honda parts. Currently SORN. No tax required – historic.

Engine
The usual crisp note, pulls very well and starts pretty much first kick. Fully overhauled, honed barrel, new piston, rings, high tensile balancer chain and new seals/ gaskets where required. Barrel and head carefully finished and painted to original specification. Crank good – no wear, main bearings fine, gearbox fine. Carb standard, refurbished with genuine Honda kit of parts. Manual choke.

Frame etc.
Very good condition. New bolts where required. Suspension all good, new front brake pads, seat immaculate.

Wheels
Alloy rims polished up to mirror finish - looks wonderful, stainless spokes. Huge amount of tread left on the excellent Metzeler tyres, front disc and rear shoes all good.

Paintwork
Tank and side panels very good. Rear still good, but if I was being critical, slightly “spotted” with wear on the decals.

Electrics
It all works. No problems. Headlamp and indicators are round and not standard, but I have the good original square headlamp and indicators which I’ll include in the masses of spares.

Exhaust
2-1 Motad in excellent condition. Looks pretty new to me. Many had this improved modification and it works and looks well.

Spares
Masses of spares. Good spare tank in the same colour, engine cases, brand new HD drive chain, gaskets, seals, rear carrier, all the old bits I replaced, and various other NOS stuff. Brand new Haynes manual and I‘ll throw in anything else I can find.

These bikes were the best Japanese 250s, handle very well and have great torque for a 250. This one is a very good example and needs nothing. It is not mint, but a small amount of work would bring it up. I need the space for other bikes so it unfortunately has to go. Condition and restoration very worthy of the slightly higher asking price. Photos reflect it well.
