Description
Road legal 1980 Crayford produced 6x6 Argocat which has just undergone a nut and bolt rebuild/ restoration. Whilst it would probably be easier to list what is not new or has not been reproduced the new/ updated parts are...
New uprated chassis (see pictures)
New uprated drive shafts (see pictures)
New driven sprockets
New bearings
New chains
New custom concentric chain adjusters
New wheels
New tyres (E Marked)
Re-lined brakes
Top end refreshed and fully serviced Honda GX690 (DVLA notified of engine change and V5 updated)
New custom exhaust
Newly rebuilt gearbox with new bearings/ seals
New driver clutch
New driven clutch
New belt
Full rewire
New lights (but retaining original front surrounds and matching the original style)
New switches
New auxilliary fans
New battery (with isolator switch)
New seats
Bought by me as needing "light recommissioning", whilst there was slightly more to this there aren't many old road legal Crayford 6x6 left so it would have been a shame if it had been lost. Looking at it now the only original bits left I can see are...
The inner chassis rectangle
The axles
The body
2 of the drive sprockets
Despite all the new parts from the outside it does still look very original.
I have not tried to swim it but have dunked the front end in on a slipway to the point of floating and there were no leaks, I then did the same with the back and again not a single drop of water inside.
Thanks/ congratulations for making it this far. So there you have it, an essentially new Argocat with many uprated parts that will get you to pretty much any pub in the country.
If there are any questions please let me know.
Thanks
