Description

Aston Martin DB7 GT Manual in Daytona Nero with 22k - the best?
Earlier this year I bought my dream car, the mighty run-out model of the car Jeremy Clarkson described as the DB7 which the Vantage never was and always should have been (before pulling away in 4th gear and going upto 135mph with no gear change!). Alas I keep convincing myself its ok but truth is my 6'4 frame is not as comfy as my previous DB9s which I need to return to :-(
Comparing with a new car, I cannot say it's immaculate or perfect; however comparing with a 20 year old car it practically is. Add into that only 22, 500 miles, 26 services with meticulous maintenance and - the key - preventative care then its last service by me at Aston Martin Works 1, 000 miles ago and less than 6 months you get the picture. Oh and at AMW I had boot mechanism rebuilt to make sure it was perfect, passenger door catch ditto - and a new oil filler cap for similar OCD reasons you get the picture. Then I put 4 new OE Bridgestone tyres on her.
Quite simply, if you want a DB7 you need a GT, and if you want a GT you need a manual (for not just the ear grin drive every time - and no, its not a chore as just about any gear does just about any speed with all that v12 6l torque) but only the manual GT cars had the boosted 435bhp (GTA were left with the 420bhp).
Don't confuse with a Vantage - updated suspension, brakes, wheels, gearbox, trim, engine, etc etc.
So she is finished in (unique as far as I am aware) Ferrari Daytona Nero black special order - with beautiful gold flake with black wilton carpets and black leather with charcoal alcantara inserts. A/ C is automatic and icy cold, Becker CD with multi-player plus bluetooth and built in Sat-Nav. Electric & heated seats, reverse park, etc.
Hand polished and waxed (by me!) until she is like silk, perfect alloys (never refurbed) and - so important on these cars - spot on underneath with a history of underside being cleaned and protective coating reapplied (so many I viewed looked great until underneath with hidden rust coming at front of rear wheel arches, sills, underside as they rust inside out and suspension parts etc rusty). Also, she has had their achilles heel of the rear differential failing being replaced - don't buy one which hasn't had this done (unless you want to do that job!).
Yes, she is blisteringly fast with so much torque in any gear but because of that torque she also poodles easily with few gear changes necessary - unless you want to :-)
There is nothing to do, she is spot on. A Somerset (from Norfolk!) round weekend trip in her and wanted to turn around and do it again!
PS - private registration not includedI always wanted a DB7 GT Manual - and searched and searched until this car came along - the best of the best.
Plus with the big bruiser V8/ Vantage/ Virage cars of the early nineties now finding fame and fortune, these will be the next cars to soar in values. I wish I had the space and cash to keep her just for that alone!
