Description
1990 MZ ETZ251. Came to me earlier this year basically as a mecanno set having been partly dismantled then left for about 20 years. Somewhere in its life it gained a Hammerite Yellow paint job which will not be to everyones taste but actually appealed to me. The tank and side battery cover had been stripped to bare metal so I have sprayed them with Hammerite yellow to at least stop the metal rusting. I have a couple of cans of this left which can come with the bike to freshen up the older paintwork if required. Its pretty scruffy obviously but hardly any rust, pretty much original and very sound overall.
I have put it back into running order, compression is good, starts easily and sounds ok but will only run on choke so carb needs more attention. Everything else works fine. Not insured, so only ridden round the garden . Took it in my van for an MoT today (31st October) and it passed with no advisories.
There is a V5c in my name and one old MoT certificate dated 1997 but that?s it so far as paperwork is concerned. Looks as though it has only done 400 miles since then assuming it?s the original speedo. Use as a winter hack or a good basis for a restoration project. Viewing welcomed.
