Beschreibung
This is the very rare electric start AVV version.
The AVV variant was the luxury version of the LD Mk III range, built in 1957, with an electric starter, built in ammeter and clock, the last of the shaft drive models, with 12 volt electrics and very few were produced, let alone exist now.
It has had two owners including the present owner who has meticulously restored this machine, and it has won two awards at the prestigious European Isle of Wight Scooter fest; Best European Scooter Restoration award, and Exhibitors Choice Best Restoration award.
It is of course, matching numbers, with original logbook, restoration history and much more.
This is truly a design classic. The forerunner of all the machines to come, with the panels, Teleflex gear cables, a rear damper, covered handlebars and much more, this represented the step change that Lambretta was looking for.
The machine featured here goes even further.
It is the Self-starter version. No kickstart as on previous LD's. The hump to house 12v system batteries. A blanking plate on crankcase where the kickstart was previously housed. Glove box for ammeter and clock and starter switch unit. The long tailpipe.
It has been finished in the original colours, and starts and runs as new, with only 6144 miles on the clock.
All offers considered. This was purchased in the UK off the original lady owner and has had a nut and bolt rebuild, apart from the engine/ gearbox, which has all been cleaned, serviced and restored where required.
First Registered on 3rd Sept 1957
This really is a one off vehicle, and is very rare in the UK, and in showroom condition.
Videos of the machine can be seen on line - search - you tube greg nutkins
The scooter is in Chiswick, W4.
