Descrição
For sale is my 1996 E38 735i, as you might have guessed from the registration plate (which is included in the sale). There were two previous owners prior to this purchase in late 2016, at which point it had covered only 57000 miles. The first owner held onto it for 3 years, and then the second for 18 years. At new, this was a stock 735i, and has not been modified in any way.
I was attracted by the low mileage, the glorious V8, sublime ride comfort, and the uncommon shade of silver which, incidentally, made an appearance in the Bond movie “Tomorrow Never Dies”. This colour serves the E38 well. The interior is light grey, with the wood trim.
The original wheels are in excellent condition on the face, and currently wear a set of Hankook winter i’cept Evo tyres with about 5mm left. I’ve previously owned two E30’s (the latter one being a 1989 325i Sport which I should have never let go!), an E34 and an E92 over the last 35 years. This has been the most comfortable on long journeys. Since early 2017, this has been a daily driver, and has now done just short of 160000 miles. Its long commuting days are now over (A1 and M1 predominantly), and it is time to let her go to another enthusiast. The car has been maintained to a high standard to enable this mileage, and all appropriate repairs/ replacements carried out as required. Items such as new cats, diff-seals, bearings, suspension components all replaced in a timely fashion. Indeed, it acquired a new BLIC petrol tank this summer.
All the regular servicing and standard repairs/ replacements have been completed at my local independent garage that I have used for over 20 years with all my family’s cars. However, the petrol tank, charcoal filter and output shaft drive-seal job was carried out by Newhall’s BMW Specialist in Sheffield in August this year. It received a new windscreen in 2018 due to stone chip damage. The throttle body was replaced at Sytner BMW in 2019, and a new battery was installed in 2021.
It has a JVC head unit to provide communications and multi-media tech, but the original walnut trim flap folds down to obscure it, if preferred.
In its 27th year, and with nearly 160k on the clock, it absolutely isn’t in concours condition. Anyone reading this far won’t be expecting it to be. Having said that, some modest expenditure would bring it up to an excellent functional, and cosmetic, state. The car has its quirks, which can be explained, in detail, to a potential buyer. E38’s have their strengths and weaknesses, and there is a strong E38 online community out there.
It has an MOT until October 2024.
Rather than go on at greater length in this advert, further information can be obtained by giving me a call.
The car is situated in Sheffield, two miles from J31 of the M1.
Price is inclusive of the unique private plate, 5 x OEM M-Parallel Alloys (4 Refurbished in Bright Silver, 1 spare - unrefurbished) with Kumho Tyres for use during the Summer, and 5 x Style 2 Alloys (4 on the car, one spare in the boot!) with Hankook Winter Tyres on. All tyres fitted between 2020 & 2022.
Thank you for your interest.
