2014 SEBRING MXR 5. 7 V8 – Healey 3000 Recreation

Firstly, some history.

Sebring International was founded in 1994 and set out to produce a range of open-top sports cars in the style of the classic Austin-Healey 3000, which had been built between 1959 and 1967. The company name derives from the Sebring International Raceway in the USA, where Austin-Healey cars were successfully campaigned.

Sebring produced a number of different models reminiscent of the Healey 3000 using fibreglass bodywork based on their own design steel ladder chassis. The MXR was their ‘top of the range’ model in respect of performance, visual appearance and trim options. The Sebring company are now known as Sebring Works, based at Moreton on Marsh and are building only electric versions of this model together with the more classic version and two Porsche replicas. Their website is at:

This is my car and registered in my name at my home address in South Wales. It was built by a friend of mine over a 5 year period from 2009-2014 and registered as a brand new car in December 2014. It has covered just 14, 900 miles over the nine years it has been on the road which can be backed up by the MOT history at:

This is a high-performance vehicle, but with an emphasis on driveability. It is fitted with a high output 5. 7 litre Chevrolet small-block V8 using Edelbrock Pro-Flo fuel injection, running through a Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox and Ford Scorpio LSD. Whilst much of the running gear is Ford derived, elements of the suspension are bespoke to the Sebring package. The car looks fantastic and sounds and performs amazingly as only a car with a V8 engine can….

The bodywork is all GRP (double-skinned doors, bonnet & boot lid) mounted on a box section steel ladder frame. Whilst very close in appearance to the Austin-Healey 3000, the car sits noticeably lower to the ground and has flared wheel arches, giving it a much more aggressive stance. The paintwork is in fabulous condition, outside, inside and engine bay. It is a Nissan burgundy colour with a cream wrap to the lower part. The 16" Chrome billet alloy wheels are also in excellent condition with Toyo Proxes tyres all round.

The car unusually has triple stainless steel wipers (standard on the Sebring), Aluminium Aero fuel filler cap. It has Disc brakes all around and adjustable Spax suspension.

The luxurious cockpit is trimmed throughout in cream leather with maroon piping and it is fully carpeted also in maroon – all in first-class condition. A Mota-Lita wood rimmed steering wheel is fitted and the car has electric windows. The Smiths chrome rimmed classic instruments have black faces. There is a heater and a Clarion CD sound system.

The black mohair hood and hood cover are also in excellent condition and there is a removeable wind deflector. The car also has a tonneau cover which I have used when left outside overnight at club events. Always garaged in my friend’s and my ownership and used sparingly on dry days during the winter months. Used as a weekend car during the summer, mainly with the hood down as a sports car should be!

Comes with the original build manual, Build photographs and receipts totalling a massive £42, 000, Servicing receipts, Oil change history and spare keys.
There is a thriving Owners Club. Full details at: I will include membership to the club to the lucky purchaser. I am currently the club secretary.

Why am I selling I hear you ask.
It was always on my bucket list to own this car and my friend who built it agrees that it is a fantastic car to own and enjoy. I now have another car on my bucket list and need to sell this to fund the purchase of a Mustang Bullitt!

In Summary:
The Sebring MXR is a hand-built blend of classic British sports car and American muscle – with awesome power and stunning performance. At the same time, in Sebring’s own words, it is “arguably more practical than a Cobra replica”, offering effortless high-speed cruising and can undertake long distance journeys in great comfort. This car is in excellent ‘ready to drive’ condition, having been well maintained and drives without fault.

Realistically priced at £24, 500 complete with appropriate registration KC64 MXR (It would be £30, 000 if for sale at a specialist car dealer). I’m in South Wales, 25 minutes from Cardiff.
