Description
Land Rover Series 1 Early Pre Production Gearbox and Transfer Box
Mixture of parts pre production & Production Series One Land Rover gearbox and transfer box with Pre production PTO.
The gearbox was originally owned by Stewart Morgan, by a chance meeting, it was then acquired by Exmoor Trim. To be clear there is no provenance with the gearbox, only the casting marks and stamped serial numbers on the box. We highly recommend coming to see it in person.
The PTO has the following casing marks, 86 on the joint to the main box, X17814 on the output casing of the PTO, and on its opposing side "CMA". What we believe is "X17835" on the section adjoining the main gearbox, as is common in many early gearboxes the serial number is obscured by the nut.
The transfer box has the following stamped marks in the casting, please see the images in the listing. There are two rivetted plates on the outside behind the front output. Above these two plates reads, "3DQR"
Pre fixing the first plate a stamped number "424", the following top plate reading "217. 683".
The lower plate reads "WM2. 209" there is a distinct "x" stamped into the casting of the box to the right of these plates also.
Viewing is highly recommended and can be arranged by appointment at our Showroom in Williton.
We are open to offers for this unique piece of history. Any questions or queries please do contact us at Exmoor Trim. We look forward to hearing from you.
