Hi All , Decided I will be selling my Smart 2001 fortwo 450 599cc Left hand drive uk car , asking £995 , Very Low mileage coming up to 43000 miles This car was featured in the practical classics magazine in two editions 2023 , reason for sale i have been offered another project from another car brand so as much as I like this little car it has to make way for my new project, about the smart , last year practical classics , fitted a new alternator , 1 x engine mount , new rear shocks and rear drop links , new battery , and a new set of black 2nd hand body panels , excellent tyres with fronts that look to have had little use , in my ownership the car has had a replacement 2nd hand ABS module/ pump as when i bought the car the ABS warning light was on , the replacement Abs pump solved the issue , The car presents very nicely and gets alot of compliments when out and about , the bodywork does have marks etc but for a 23 year old car looks nice , interior of the car is in very nice condition with a vibrant orange interior which some of the earlier cars were well known for , and really is an asset to the car , car has air con which when turned on the compressor etc kicks in but not sure if is blowing very cold so possible refill needed . mot is due 19 april 2024, having checked around the car i personally think it will need new front shock absorbers as one side has misting/ Leaking and also the front drop links look very rusty but they do not knock and their rubber boots are fully intact , just trying to be fully transparent about the car , the front suspension springs don't look very old so I am surprised the front shock absorbers were not changed at the same time, 2 x remote keys , a folder full of mercedes invoices including new clutch and gearbox at approx 32000 miles , car drives without any knocks or bangs and changes gear as it should , it is a semi auto , so can be driven fully auto or manual but no clutch, i changed engine oil and filter 3 weeks ago and recently painted the rear subframe , one other point usually first start of the day the starter motor is a fraction lazy for a second but excellent after the intial start up , I was going to change engine earth lead but not got around to it , ideally older smarts like this need to be enthusiast owned where you can do work on the cars yourself , the car will need ongoing maintenance so please be aware of this , ideally i would like to see it go to a mechanically minded enthusiast , these early smarts will possibly become future classics.
